View Full Version : PS7 Browse shows gibberish
herbicide 02-21-2006, 05:12 PM We have a CD full of photos that works fine on my PC, and even when you open it in PS on my mum's PC, the images are fine and uncorrupted.
However - when I direct Browse to the cd, it says:
'Could not save cache because of a disk errror.'
I've burnt a new copy of the disk, reinstalled photoshop and reset the preferences file, all to no avail.
Does anyone know what's going on?

Do you get the same problem through browse on both computers? (Yours and your Mum's).
If it is only your PC then it may be a problem caused by some sort of error on your hard drive or operating system issue. You could have a corruption of some sort on your hard drive.
It is my understanding that when you use browse, it reads the image from your cd and creates a preview version of that image which it then stores on your PC's hard drive. Unfortunately, I can't advise you how to fix that.
If you can open the images in photoshop, as a workaround why dont you create a 'contact sheet' (File/Automate/contact sheet).

That was my understanding also, but scandisk didn't report any errors...
The contact sheet does the same thing (though slower) as the workaround I came up with. (The thumbnail software that came with the camera)
Thanks for the advice (and an unexplored feature) anyway.
