View Full Version : vectorial format in MAX
fabriciomicheli 12-12-2002, 11:08 AM I need to export a single frame as vectors from max.
I need to edit the shapes in a vector program like Illustrator, Corel and so on. The formats could be AI, EPS, WMF, AMF, or something vectorial...
Any idea to export with this formats from MAX???

the mesh or the output? if its the output then export using vecta 3d or swift....if its the mesh then the only way i have found is to save as a 3ds and take it inti formz and save out as .ai

The image is what I need in a vectorial format. I dont need 3d mesh. Just a still plain image in a vectorial format.

there is no possibility to render to vector format like *ai
without a plug in.
you can:
render in discreet plasma to swf & ai
or you need a 3rd party renderer

yes, i am talking about render plug ins like illustrate
swift, vecta 3d or the plasma renderer which you
can use in max, too.

Actually, max can export to illustrator. Just click File-->Export-->Adobe Illustrator.
Now, I have'nt done that before, and I'm guessing that meshes don't go with it, but splines do.
If what you're modeling is simple enough, and you have Max 5, you can just go into edge mode(in edit poly), click the edges that border the outline you want, and click "Create Shape From Selection".
Just some thoughts.
Good luck!
