I've been working with the very nice Icarus program trying to get MatchMoving into C4D.
The problem is that Cinema crashes all the time when I'm trying to use the video as a material on the background. It either crashes with a "Visual C++ runtime error - Abnormal program termination", or with a small error message box with runtime error 226(?) in it, that always pops up again and never goes away until I reboot.
I haven't used animated textures in C4D before, so I don't know if this is related to the DV/AVI codec or what?. The DV was captured and edited with Vegas Video.

My system is
Athlon 1.33GHz/512MB DDR RAM,
ATI AIW RAdeon
running Win98SE.

I've captured a video clip from my DV camera to premiere through firewire and then exported it as Microsoft DV avi. It works fine in C4D.
What video codec are you using? It might be it.
Try to convert your movie to another codec like cinepack or any of the codecs used by C4D. To check which ones go to the render settings, under "save" choose .avi as the file format and then click "options", that will give you a list of all the codecs available. Check if the one you're using is listed there.
You can also try to convert your .avi to .mov, i think C4D handels .mov files better then .avi.

Another thing that might be causing the problem is your platform... I wouldn't use win98 to work on Excel, let alone a 3D program. Ever considered upgrading to win2000? Just a thought.

The Vegas Video Codec is really just the Microsoft DV codec. It should work fine. The only difference is that Vegas Video compresses to that format better. Regardless your clip will look and taste just like a standard Microsoft DV clip.
