Have any Antivirus programs running?
I too had BSODS until I disabled them.
c-dilla sucks ass.
I am really really enjoying Max again though! Have not used it since v3. I like it!
Cheers

So to use a High end software Demo I need to open my computer to viruses ?

Why not just fix the bug in the software ?

3.27 crashes for me.

The point is This is a KNOWN bug from 4.5 Why dont the fix it ?

The XP OS has been out for a while, but it looks like they dont want to support it.

The Product should come out of the box/demo cd WORKING, not needing paches to prevent BSODs.

You had a 4.5? Didn't know there was a .5 release ;)

I really don't know why everybody has problems with this. I have never had a peoplem with max and it's rock solid on my system.
Sorry man... wish I could help.

Sorry, got my version mixed up not 4.5

You say you are not having any problems, are you running XP Pro ?

and do you keep AntiVirus software on your system ?

/me runs McAfee and no problem. Don't worry about lowering your defenses... just disconnect from the internet for a sec and install. I don't think 3D World would've caught a virus on one of their CD's. Heck, I used to dump the whole CD's onto my HD even before I slapped myself for going 1 whole year without and AV :scream:

pgp: XP pro, no antivirus software. That stuff is crap.

p.s. for all the hackers out there, my ip is 204.14.332.19 oh and you know my email ;)

hehe... sorry, I was exagerating. I've been through everything you have 10 fold ;)

I once had a box that would erase the entire HD if I booted it up with a floppy in the drive. Poof... Gone! All my old graphic design and web stuff I had for my portfolio was gone after 8 of those reinstalls :(

Ok so you receive a blue screen of death.

That means were crashing in the kernel right? Or we should have Watsoned.
Alot of people run MAX on xp and it works fine.

You can download the debugger from the microsoft website and load up the kernel dump (should have been created during the crash)

type "!analyze -v" without the quotes. Can't remember but I think this works on the latest debugger. If your lucky it will tell you the faulting app or driver.

Another suggestion is to upgrade or reinstall your vid drivers. Max is a video intense app. Just guessing here.

Have you asked the discreet forums about this? They should be able to iron out the problem.:wip:

You guys will just have to accept that software geared for CG has to be on a machine built around and for CG....

You think studios have anti-virus programs on their work stations?...No....even better, those same machines never see the internet.....

I have 3 computers at home.....one for the net and 2 for CG......I run XP Pro on both of them....and the supporting programs that contribute to my CG future.....and it screams.......!

Anti virus programs have no place on a machine you expect to produce CG with.....:buttrock:

Uh... no. Studios most definately use anti-virus software on ALL their machines. Even a CD for upgrading your tools can have viruses if you're unlucky. We use Norton Corporate Edition. There were initial probs, but the new Cdilla works fine.

All software has bugs, no matter how 'professional' they are. Things iron out over time, and viruses can find their way into anything.

I couldn't agree more with you. When I acquired my 2nd workstation, I said "alright, no internet for this one, to slow and too dangerous (hacks, viruses, etc...)" And I could use internet for the other one... BUT!

..but its a pain switching from PC to PC all the time. My other is quite slow (P3 533mhz 384 RAM) and with all the things I'm downloading all the time like plugins, tutorials, clips and that take too much time to transfer to the other PC which is where I'd need them more specifically.
When I emancipate next year and move to a flat, I might end up doing it once and for all. But the thought of NO internet at all just freaks me out... So much stuff out there, so little time....

My experiences and dealings with studios out here would have me strongly disagree.....
