Here is the final model, animated. It is just a test to see how well he deformed, and considering the amount of layers and stupid things like straps and life jackets, it worked pretty well I think.

It's 600k or something.

Enjoy!

I think your modeling is fantastic. You mentioned in the other thread that:
The fluff at on the collar are just the subpatches you can see in the wireframe picture there, with an FMB bump map applied to it, then I turned on the "bump displacement" feature in item properties.

The technique really works well, but what's a fmb bump map?

Thanks,
Mahlon

The FMB bumpmap refers to the procedural texture I used for the surface bumpmap.
In the Lightwave 7.5 surface editor, click on the "T" next to Bump. It will bring up a Texture Editor window, in which you can change the texture to apply as the bumpmap. At the very top it says "Layer Type" which by default is set as Image Map. You want to change that to "Procedural Texture" in this case, which will present you with the option of "Procedural Type" a few rows down. Its default is set to Turbulence, but in there you'll find FMB, and this is the one I used as the bump map.
Once that is applied, in the object's "Item Properties" in Layout you will find the option to turn on "Bump Displacement". By turning that on, the surface's bumpmap will now actually affect the geometry of your object.
I hope I explained it well enough, if not let me know :)
