any sketches/designs at all?
are you going for a blocky look? just not sure if that's part of the design or if you need to work on smoothing him....
i assume it's a kid.....? what type of style are you going for? etc.
don't want to make suggestions that'd cross what your style/design is....

No sketches, just need a kid for a new idea, so I jumped right in to 3D.
blocky look? Not really. Does he still look real blocky?
what type of style are you going for? I was looking for a cartoon type kid, trying to keep the poly's low.:)
thanks

that kid kind looks like hes a 42 year old investment banker
who has gotten any for like 2 months heheh
most little kids dont look like that from what i rember
but the character still rocks and i dig the dsemi blocky style that you have done him in great work overall

the proportions are pretty good. maybe the feet and the hands can be alittle bigger. kids are typically modeled with big eyes, little nose maybe? chin less pronounced. what age are you going for? Its alot easier to start from a concept or reference material.

as for a kid... all of what lordmachucha said would apply
especially the chin and face in general being more rounded and fat kinda... and bigger eyes
blocky just in the shoulders mainly.... that's what jumped out on a couple of the images.
looks good though.

I like it.. Something about the way he is shaped is just cool.. He doesn't look so much like a little kid, but his look is unique nonetheless..

He looks like a young Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys.

It would help if you provided a wireframe view, but a few things I've noticed:
The arms are way too long... looks a bit like a monkey
The sharp crease on the sleeve adn along the arm looks weird... I'd reduce the subpatch weight to 0 on those points
You should cut the neck/head from the geometry of the shirt, so the neck isn't merging into the collar.
Likewise you should cut the hair from the head for the same reason, unless you're gonna texture the transition area.
The shirt and the pants need a fair amount of work...
The shirt, especially in the chest/shoulder area. Make his shoulders narrower and his chest wider. Make sure you get a nice transition from chest to arm when his arms are by his sides.
The pants, I'd make them thinner, they'll be a bitch to get deforming nicely being that fat. Try also to lessen the crease at the front, keeping most of the creasing happening at the back of the leg.
Now the head...
Give him a defined jaw, making the back of the head behind the jaw quite a bit thinner.
Work on the underside of the jaw, so it's nice and smooth
Make his nose turned up a little rather than down...it's more appealing that way
Turn his eyebrows up a little so he looks cute rather than angry
Lower his ears so the bottom of the ears is in line with the base of the nose.
Give the poor kid some eyelids, so he doesn't look like a zombie
And give him a mouth...
Keep up the good work though, I'm looking forward to seeing him evolve :bounce:

I would have the coat come around the front a bit more...maybe even have it buttoned shut....just a thought...it looks a little wierd where the arms enter the coat to me....keep going...work on the lips a little too....

Hey Remi,
Thanks for the sugestions. Here's a look at the coat wrapped around in the front, and I did a little work on his lips. Pulled the hood down and that's about it for now.
So, what what do you think?
