You'll get two CD's and two books. The manual is not printed unfortunately, its online (F1).
The two books you get are "What's New in Maya 4.5" which is basically just an overview of the new features and "Instant Maya 4.5" which is a brief set of tutorials which barely gets you up to speed. but these tutorials are really really basic so you might want to look at some more education material..
oops, actually you get three books, the third being "installing Maya" which exclusively covers installation. Why that had to be a book in itself, I have no idea.

The online doc's are really good and alot of it is in PDF formated for print, i would advise you do these first before getting any other books.

Everything is in the online docs. Maya used to come with that bookshelf-full of stuff (until Maya 3?) which was all in the docs anyway so they stopped bothering.
