CGTalk - Fantasy battle

Hello all.
I have started a new project. It is of a battle that has just been won by the humans and their unicorns. There will be dead dragons and evil creatures as well. I hope to add some snow starting to fall (if I can pull it off). Anyways, the city in the distance is what they are defending. The unicorns are very loyal to thier humans and the humans are loyal to thier unicorns, which I hope to make evident in the picutre. Also, I want to make it seem like war doesn't belong in the world. Keeping all of that in mind:

I really want to make this painting as well done as I possibly can, so if anyone has any comments on how to help me, please share your opinion.

Wow! I really like the detail of the unicorn :)

I think the upper arm (the bicep/tricep area) is a little too big. Perhaps you are deciding to add fur on that area, but I think it would be more slender.

Thanks for the comment. I made the leg slightly slimmer, but I still want the unicorn to look muscular.
I worked out the texture of the saddle.

Well, this looks promising.

Have you thought about the lightsource (direction) ?
You could put a little shadow from the armour and the sadle on the horse it makes it more dimensional

Thanks for the comment Arty2. The light source is from the 2 suns that will be shining behind the city.
i put the details into the unicorn.(but i think they have to be reworked again.) and have started on the warrior's face. Any comments are welcome and appreciated.

I love the color on the unicorn, but the person looks bored or upset, is he supposed to be tired from winning or is he on the side who lost? Either way it might be better to make him look more exhausted :)

Looks like you've got a good start. What kind of horse did you use for your unicorn refference? Looks built like a draft horse or a war horse :thumbsup: Like a war unicorn should be.:)

I have been busy with the warrior.... who is in fact female:D....
I did change her expression a bit, and yes, she is on the side that won... otherwise she would probably be dead...
I used a Gypsy Vanner as a reference for the unicorn.

I think that I'm done with this one now. I am ready to start a new one, but if anyone out there has some helpful comments to make, feel free to voice your opinion! I am still willing to make some changes to the pic.
