I have been looking for in Cinema for ages. Now it works and which is fantastic, Spline IK with hair dynamics. Dare I say that it works better than Maya?

Cool!
How'd you set that up?
I'm trying to do it and it's not working yet..

1 set up a spline IK

2 copy the spline and name it hair or whatever

3 get an expresso tag and constrain the position of the controlers to the corrisponding points with point nodes

4 give the hair spline a spline dynamics tag and with a hair constrain tag constrain the first point, using the spline IK as a constrainer.

Bit longer to set up than Maya, still with Maya you have to get clusters and so on.

hope this helps

sorry I can't share that file because is set up with joints. When I get a chance I set up one with bones and uploaded it

- Create bone chain
- use "Spline IK" command from CDIK
- Assign Spline Dynamics to the spline
- Link Tip goal to spline end

kinda like this I guess

Edit: oops, ok, too late :)

Hi Samir,

because the spline IK is constrained to the tergets you need a copy spline to constrain the targets to its points.

Cool, what about using an Align to Spline tag, and have the controllers aligned to the spline? Might be a quicker setup.

Nice one Jannis! This was one of the first things I tried when I got c4d hair, and having done this before in Maya I was frustrated to not to get it to work. Your way is so simple, I got it working the first time I tried it :applause:
