last night I finally found a car modelling technique that I am comfortable with, and doesnt lag the hell outta my pc. I picked the 355 because I love it.

This is the first car I am working on, and need all the help and guidance I can get. I would like to finally finish this, with all correct details. Time is no obligation.

Has anyone else modelled this car by any chance?

This is what I did last night, basic shaping .

I think it would be better if you posted a smoothed, shaded version along the wire.

I didnt really think its worth it really, because there is no detail in there yet.

Yes I know, but atleast we can see the surface a little better now.
You might have mirrored it though :p
Anyway, it's kinda early to get alot of comments on that model. Let's see some progress next :)
Have fun!

I am sorry yasserdin, but no tutorials are being used, working without is more of an learning experience

anways I just fixed a part pointed out by someone at another forum and here is a back view and a smoothed view of its current state.

It's not quite the same but I did a testarossa a while back. here is a compressed version of it, 7000 polys including wheels.
3500 for body

it could be better yeah?

Which one? yours or mine?

My advice to you is not to use subdivision surfaces. you are going about the modelling the right way for a low/med poly car.

yours

think it looks good, but i dont like the alloys to thin or some ting cant realy say! did you start with a spline cage?

Entangle

no, I modelled it straight from a 1x1x1 box.

Shaping up pretty good, One thing, seems real dense in places. For an un smoothed model, the fenders have tons of geometry.

the fenders? aka the whats?

Looking better all the time... Any chance of some more profile shots? Hard to tell a lot from the test render...

Excuse me but I suck. What type of modelling is this exactly? It doesn't look as hard as some of them. Thanks!

arjun this is poly modeling

go about doing this by converting your object into an editable poly than modeling it poly by poly

he entangle sorry for the hard words to follow.
you definetly need to check some blueprints of this car.
It is NOT looking like the original not even like a low poly version of it. pretty ugly in my eyes so far.
Maybe take a closer look at the upper parts. they are going to close.
only my opinion.

P..: :hmm:

im working from blue prints, so I dont need to check any at all, I have all the reference pictures I need also.

What is causing those weird looking polys on the bonnet? It looks like there are unwelded polys there :surprised

Why didn't you take the f355 spider or the F1 version?
Here some red hot wheels:

You're really good, keep on that good work.

Beautiful

thanks Nedim, its my first go at a car really, but its good because I am learning allot by doing it.

Leigh: I think itsdue to a 3 sided poly on either end, ill have a go at correcting that.

Give us a look at this car now...

here is a new update. I still havent modelled the proper wheels and alloys yet. I got rid of some of the creases in the body too, and just did a quick scanline to show them

http://www.johnalder.com/ferrari/20.jpg

There nedim, do you do cars by any chance?

scribble

To me it looks a bit too rounded at the front corners.
But keep working on it, it is turning out nice.

GI rendered update, the correct wheels (for now) and some texturing done. Some inside face's were deleted.

with the grounds texture size and the depth of field, and the angle of camera it looks like a model, not a real car.
