Hy!
I'm new in the "3D world" :) and I had started workin on a mecha robot (a Mobile Suit from the Gundam series) and it is called Sazabi (to me it seems a beauty:D). I started working using polygons and then to see how the result is, I convert it to subdivs (it is good if I do so? ), ofcouse I UNDO the action to get back to polygons.
I read a thread on cgtalk about modelling this robot and there was a guy who said that maybe this robot is better to be made using NURBS, because many parts of his body are round. And since then I'm thinking whether he was right or no.
Here is a image of the Sazabi:

The question is: Continuing working with Polys or start using Nurbs ?

I didn't have a great progress. I just finished the head and a bit of his torso. Here are some images (polys convert to subdivs):

I'm wainting for replies! Please give me some tips! :)

Hey dude. In my opinion you should model using whatever type of geometry you are most comfortable with. Sometimes when you have something to model, you can determine straight away whether to use poly's or nurbs, but on a project like this, its down to the artist. I say continue with nurbs, then maybe convert to polys for some additional detail. Looking good though buddy

holyzombie... you got the ideea wrong. I started already with polys, not with nurbs.

Anyway thanks for the encouragement! :)

I'm still waiting for replies!

Looks really nice. Apparently whatever you are doing to model this is working. Keep it up!:)

Thanks sandrum!
I made up my mind :D and I'll continue working with polys and in the end I'll convert the polys to subdivs. :)

Have phun ;) everyone!

PS: Maybe I'll start a WIP :)

How it is better ?

To finish the whole model with polys and then to apply subdivs OR to build a part of the body using polys and then to apply subdivs ?

I would preffer to build part by part, but I belive if I do so my system will respond slower.

I really need some advice quickly! Please reply! :)
