View Full Version : Multi Wrap Deformer Slowdown

I have my original poly mesh model and a wrap deformer version which is cut up into different areas, head hands feet legs etc. Which I create my wraps I get massive slowdown, this seems to be because the first wrap(left foot say) I created outputs to the 2nd wrap etc untill the last wrap. This means transforming the first wrap is very very slow and unnusable, whereas the last wrap added works fine.

Do you know what I am doing wrong? Surely each wrap should output direct to the base mesh itself.

I am using the max distance option.

hi

did you deleted the history on the wrap objects after cutting them???

This is called deformation order. In order to get them to do what your asking, you need to go into the "advanced" tab when you apply the wrap and pick "parallel" for the deformation order. Also additional speed will be added by tweaking the "max distance" option (You might allready know about that, just fyi if you don't).

When it comes to animating, you really should hide all this stuff so you dont have to worry about the slow wrap updating in the viewport. Just make simple noodle versions of your character for the viewport and turn off the wrap so you don't have to wait that extra time when your loading the scene up (the wrap has to calculate each time when you open the file up).

Ah, beaker, that parrallel option sounds like it will do the business.

Thanks for the other advice too, Im happy with hiding the underlying geometry, its just that when it takes 8 minetes to un-hide, then i get a bit impatient :applause:

EDIT:: Hrmm I cant find the advanced tab, or parrallel option :/

Hrm i can find the advanced tab on a lattice deformer, but not on a wrap deformer:/

Woops, my bad, forgot wrap doesnt have it. You just need to do the wrap all in one step rather than one at a time. Select all the pieces and then select your full body and do the wrap, rather than one section at a time.
