Igarashi Design's slick C4D work has been featured on the cover of Japan's CG World & Digital Video Magazine for the 5th month in a row. I think some of these images may be on Maxon's site too.

I love his work. It's nonsensical engineering with photorealism. It's actually very cool work.....

Although it's a bit confusion with all these titles on the front : "3DSMax" , "LightWave", and so on ... While it should be "Cinema4D"!

Cheers,

yeah, it's a little vague just by looking at the cover, but they always include a 3 or 4 page feature at the front of the mag that clearly explains that they are using C4D. They also are using Metasequoia for some of the poly modeling. The majority of it, Hypernurbs, rendering, and so forth, is C4D.

Metasrquoia is a poly-based moldeing tool developed by Japan, like Shade. Simple to use to some.

I used it in 2001 to learn it, It has cool modeling features, like you see in LW and C4D. In fact I found it close to C4D. When the object is in metaform or HyperNURBS form it may look weird as some polys are missing or something like this.

I still prefer C4D.

"Although it's a bit confusion with all these titles on the front : "3DSMax" , "LightWave", and so on ... While it should be "Cinema4D"! "

In fact, the cover subtitle is about feature comparision for LW 7.5, max 5, XSI 3.0, and Maya 4.5 . The red headline at the bottom of the cover is about " The software fighting among the top 4 ", implying C4D is the 5th, like 3D World of UK mentioned previously.

Also you may find CGtalk also lists these 5 as the mainstream 3d in the forum home.

And yes I had a habit to buy their magazines, I found the mag resourceful and informative, I couldn't miss a issue.

"Software/CINEMA4DXL6.3/Metasequoia/Photoshop "
from the credit of softwares, I think the author uses metasequoia to model, C4D to render, and PS to give final touch for post-product and printing purpose .

I know about him in our japanese mailing list. He uses Metasequoia and C4D to model, and C4D to give texture and render. Metasequoia is a polygon modeler (only Win) where we could get good workflow in modeling. This has also a simple UV editor.

hello, Hiroshi
There is OBJ export for shareware version, is it possible to add OBJ export for the lite version.

Agigato.

Hi,
For the freeware version, unfortunately no. This can export only .dxf, .cob(trueSpace), .x(directX), .sce(SoftF/X), .rds(Ray Dream), .pov(Pov-Ray), .suf(DoGa).

Cheers,

Hi, Hiroshi
Thanks.
I also like the free plugins at your site. Thanks.

H. Ikeda: i take it by your response you have something to do with Metasequoia? if so what....did you have something to do with development or something?
Do you use it at all....and why exactly....is it because you are unhappy with modelling in c4d or just because you are used to it?
cheers bud

I had nothing to do with Metasequoia in development and other things.
Occasionally I use Metasequoia for complicated poly modeling. If anything, I prefer nurbs & hyper nurbs modeling, though.
Some of others, as Y. Igarashi, always use it for modeling together with c4d (I know also the cases with max).
If you think about the whole workflow from modeling to rendering, using only c4d may be better, but if you take much time for (poly or cage) modeling in c4d, e.g. large polygons or lots of objects, another efficient tool such as Metasequoia could be recommended to model.
