A really fun and classy animated insurance commercial. Reminiscent of the Triplets of Belleville style with a quirky, dare I say Miyazaki-esque touch.

<edit> hmm. Maybe this belongs in the news section. sorry about that!

The style and narrative of that piece were stunning... if only we had commercials like that on this side of the pond

Triplets of Belleville - IMO - is the greatest animated film - 2D or 3D - of all time.

Chomet is a genius... and this commercial is no different.

Great concept. I hope he's working on a new project, the triplets is a wonderful movie. Got it on DVD the moment it came out.

Yeah I saw this as a link from Drawn.ca. In a round-about kind of way, its on par with the money and effort spent on Superbowl commericals (which I realize may mean nothing to people outside of the US, but all the same).

That was wonderfull and have to agree that it had a slight Miyazaki feeling even though it's a commercial. If only all commercials were this well produced I wouldn't claw my eyes out so often...

just love the animation. Such a nice concept and soft motion. Such a great feeling that's coming with it. I would love to know more about it. More about programs and techniques. I'll try to look in to it.

amazing work!

I heard he was setting up shop in Scotland to create 2-3 more features.

I wonder if they decided to rework the Barbacoa film...

Triplets of Belleville - IMO - is the greatest animated film - 2D or 3D - of all time.

Just curious. Why do you say that?
That up against some tough competition, Disney, Pixar, Miyazaki..etc.

This from a recent Cartoon Brew post ... "Chomet has a lot of good stuff coming up, including the feature THE ILLUSIONIST (http://www.atomicbearpress.com/blog/2006/01/sylvain-chomets-illusionist.html) and a sequence in the upcoming anthology film PARIS JE T'AIME".

High praise indeed. Though, being a huge cycling fan, the movie had a deeper connection. It's in my top five at least.

That was great! Its nice to see more story driven commercials, even if they are commercials. Its hard to care about characters when they are trying to sell you something, but this was very well done!

That mix of Triplets/Miyasaki is just amazing! :bounce: A co-operation between Miyasaki and Chomet might give very interesting results, don't you think!? :scream:

Hmm... Interesting that we now talk about Miyasaki, as the trailer of his next upcoming feature film will be released next week! The new film is called 'Earthsea', and I can't wait for it! It seems that it will have some nice dragons that we were familar with from Spirited Away! :buttrock: Check ghibli.jp for a nice preview still! :)

Wow. I had no idea. Based off the Ursula K. LeGuin books. This should be one hell of a ride.

The problem is that the person sheperding the project is Migazaki's son. An ex dentist no less.

Well that just brought me back down to earth. Hopefully some of his father's genius has rubbed off on him.
