View Full Version : Box Jump
DigitalToon2 02-15-2006, 06:24 PM Hey Everyone,
I'm currently in class 2 at AM and I'm working on my assignment of a character jumping on and off a box. Overall I think my blocking is finally to the point where I can start polishing, but any C&C would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The movement looks good to me. If I was pressed to say anything, maybe he could jump up a teeny bit higher before landing the box? -something to help the jump pose register more stongly.
-just a thought though ( I like the landing a lot).

Not bad....but where's his arms?!? They could help a lot to make it more expressive. Or was this a practice in animating characters without arms? :curious:
Perhaps a little more anticipation before he jumps up?
Good work!

looking sweet. i would arch his back a little more when he jumps up on to the box (reverse c shape) that would emphasis the impact of the foot coz the landing is excellent. good job keep it up
p.s. love the animation on the toes very nice timing

The reason he doesn't have arms is because for this assignment we're supposed to be concentraing on animating the head and spine and how their movment relates to the hips, so that's the theory behind that.
Anyway thanks for all your comments they've been great and I should have an update soon of my refining. Thanks Again!

Here's an update. I started refining and it's still a work in progress but I could still really use some feedback. Thanks

its cool, but i think he should hop off the box instead of slide off coz his slide foot hits the ground before his stepping foot and it looks kind of odd. plus a hop would be a clearer action and would 'read' more clearly i think.whats that rig like to use anyway? it looks really cool has a lot of life on its own which is rare for just proxy rig.

i still think he needs more of a hop off the box as in go a bit higher and land a bit harder only a little bit but so it registers as a full action with anticipation. coz right now he still kinda 'slips off' .
keep at it though animation is never done you just run out of time :D
