there are different file formats of mocap data around
one the bvh file format can be directimported in lightwave i tried it but did not like it because of the setup
there are some programms working together with lw one is lifeforms with direct import to lw
i personaly prefer motionbuilder works fine with lw needs the free fbx plug
there is a free demoversion of motionbuilder at alias webside just try it
hope this helps

Look for the upcomming issue No.9 of HDRI magazine; there should be a tutorial-walkthrough between Lightwave and Motion Builder i've written...

actually that's a FXB tutorial NOT a motion capture tutorial...it just happens that the motion capture file was saved in the app called motion builder as a fbx file

motion capture files are usually BVH files that come directly from the recording session rather than the VERY app specific 'alias motion builder' format......you could argue that a bip file is a motion capture file format but it's just a animation file format that biped/character studio uses in 3dsmax......you import a motion capture file [bvh] into max's biped and then save it as a bip....

if you see what i mean!

I would LIKE to see a proper motion capture tutorial for lightwave one day..yet i've been waiting for 3 years so far!

You can use Unica UMF converter from Motek Motion Technology... very simple soft. Just load motion capture file (umf format) and save at lws...
