CGTalk - Selection shrinking

is there a way i can shrink the selection lines (basic shape of selection) so that i can get a different colour or shade in it. (im trying to do some faerie wings and i want a white rim and a different colour center)

ok, it looks like you've answered your own question, which kinda makes me wonder why you continued to post it anyway :) whatever the case, if you hadn't found it yet look under select -> modify -> contract...
