So I haven't posted on here in a while because I've been up to my elbows in real life stuff and Animation Mentor, which is, thus far, awesome. I really like getting to go back and focus in such detail, with such great feedback, on the basics. While it can be a bummer to look at your old demo reel and hate it, on the other hand, it is a definate sign that your next one will be a lot better ;)

Anyway, I'm trying to focus in my free time on a short I planned out a while ago called "Owner's Expense...". I don't want to give too much away, but it will feature 3 humanoid characters, and should, if I can pull it off, be pretty funny think. Anyway, it focuses around this guy, a space marine type character. I still have to do detail work on the wrist guards, add elbow pads, then add most of his legs, and then add a visor thingy for him... and then teeth and a tongue... and then... uhg... rig him... but I think he's coming pretty good and wanted to get some opinions. I'm definately not a texture artist, so the textures will stay pretty bland, but I think in motion, once finished, he should look pretty good. Anyway, here's 2 WIP pics. I'll keep updating this thread as I go if anyone proves interested ;)

looking cool. one thing though is i would ad more of a knuckle to the thumb as it seems to just stick out of the hand kind straight looking. other than that looks pretty cool. i'll follow it along as you go. :buttrock:

Been lagging, but wanted to post an update. The main character is basically done. I may or may not add a visor depending on how I decide to handle a few scenes, and I need to add a scanning device (which will look like a cross between the old PKE Meter from Ghostbusters and an iPod). The skeleton is built, but I still need to actually bind the mesh to it, setup facial controls and then finish adding/scripting controls to the wrists/ankle for opening and closing the hand and handling footroll (despite my hatred of rigging, I'm trying to do this rig right since I'll be using it for a while). Anyway, here's a rendering of the character as he is right now. Let me know what you think.

Just wanted to post another update. I had the time to go over the model again and do some heavy tweaking. I also finished the primary rig. What I have left for sure is figuring out a holster for the gun and maybe changing the leg armor once again. Other than that, I'm knee-deep in morph targets for the face. Anyway, check it out, I think there is a drastic difference between this version and the last. Looking at it I'm actually kind of surprised that its the same model.
