JSlotosch 02-11-2006, 10:02 AM Hey all,

Really good work dude! No crits really...looking forward to the textured version..
If anything - try not to make him look so stuck up - his facial pose makes him look like he smelt something bad...I thin khe needs to look more aggressive and angry.

I see lots of excellent muscley models like this but how do you actually go about rigging something that complicated? Or do you not?

awsome modeling, really like the dynamic musculature, i agree with engy about the back of the knees, and i think the back of the calves could use some more work as well, great job man, do you plan on texturing him?

i really like the muscle-definition and fleshiness of the upper torso. the topology especially on the forearms and the chest looks like some tidy work ;)
the upper leg - especially the front side - looks way too generic. please, do yourself a favour and turn those upper legs into something more alive, more fleshy - less generic - just as you did on the upper part of your hunter!
furthermore some bigger unsmoothed wireshots of the front and the back of your char would be really appreciated!
good luck & regards

Does anybody know, how I can use the alpha map, which I made in ZBrush, for an displacement in Max (with Mental Ray)!?
And another question, can I use the UVW, which ZBrush generated, in Max, or make this some problems!?
I hope to get some help from you!

Hi all,
I consider what he can wear for weapons and how his equipment finally should look!
http://flyinghawk.fl.funpic.de/3D/Vampire_Hunter/Vampire%20hunter10.jpg
He should wear a bow and a quiver for arrows on his back
But Iīm not sure whether this equipment fit to him!
If you donīt like it let me know it! :)

hi, very cool model, I really like it!
Can you elaborate a little about how you did the cloth (the wrinkles and creases)?
Keep it up!!!

03-25-2006, 04:05 PM
Thanks all for the comments and sorry for my late answer!
@juln
Thankīs! ;)
@damoke
I will remove all the skirt!
@yonathangz
The cloth is nothing especial, I modeled it with a plane which I extruded arround his hip and than I extruded it down and made the wrinkles !
Now, I started with the texture, but I have a problem!
Ever I use SSS from mental ray in max the result looks a little bit to soft, I can do what I want!
Now the question, how can I give the shader more contrast!?
For example, this is the original picture: http://flyinghawk.fl.funpic.de/3D/Vampire_Hunter/Textur01.jpg
and this is the picture after I scaled the contrast higher in Photoshop:
http://flyinghawk.fl.funpic.de/3D/Vampire_Hunter/Textur02.jpg
would be nice if you can help me!
I donīt know where I can do that!
Greeting,
FHawk

03-25-2006, 05:31 PM
Great work so far, on the model as well as on texture
Concerning the "contrast", you can try to increase the "scale conversion factor"
This will cause, that your model get lets translucent and the shadows will be darker.

That's a very impressive model and texture you got there. I did feel a little strange when I saw the cuts on his body - because vampires heal very rapidly- , the "bruce lee" chest - very small and tight - which contradicts the rest of his body....but other than that It look amazing! keep it up! :D

the left one is the best, i really like this rotten flesh, looks really old and cold at the same time. great job!

gjpetch
04-09-2006, 03:21 AM
Nice anatomy!
The main thing that stands out to me is that it looks like you are using lights that aren't casting shadows. I can see bright illumination inside the mouth, and the head isn't casting any shadow onto the shoulder. All lights should cast shadows. The skin looks a bit grey/brown, and a bit flat. One thing that can help is if you incorporate a bit of a coloured gradient into the shading, so the highlights might be slightly blue, the illuminated parts slightly yellow, mid parts slightly orange, shadows slightly purple... this gives it a sort-of translucent look. Just more variation in the colour, like the cheeks, nose, chin might be more red than the rest, more exposed parts like his shoulders might be more tanned relative to less exposed parts like his armpits and under his chin. He could do with some variation is specular, perhaps shiny around the eyes and scalp, and so on.
Hope thats some help!
JSlotosch

Good modeling, good texturing, good lighting, great job :)

It seems like his neck is too long or his legs or too short?
The model is awesome, it's just those things that look a little strange to me.
JSlotosch
04-12-2006, 10:49 PM
fallofmart, thanks for this comment, but I love the long neck. ;)
Iīm currently working on the rig, but I donīt have so much experience in rigging.
I use max and my question is, should I work with weight all vertices or should I work without weight all vertices?
What maks more sense?
I have this question, because I have a little problem. The bone weights of the right foot influence the left foot, I think this comes from weighting all vertices.

Would be nice if you can help me!

First of all sick modelling man, really love it.
Second, is he able to go outside during the day like a normal human or is he restricted to night movement? if the later, you should probably keep his skin pale and a slightly purple to give the faint skin that most vamps / albino's have

Nice you like my work. :)
Well, I painted the weights with the painttool in max and than I mirrored the changes to the other foot, that was the problem. The weights from the one foot were really mirrored, (donīt no why) and not only the values!
I solved it, skinning every foot individually.

a little crit ;) since this is so amazingly good, i was trying to find something to crit on.. the katana... if it is a dai katana (normal large katana, the kinda you see in movies and stuff) you gave him then you should make it a bit bigger;) if it is a katana then you have to make it smaller ;) just had to say that :P anywais, really nice ;)

MOdel looks great, though I'm worried about the katanas sheath. It looks western, yet katanas are eastern. Maybe remodelling so the sheath woul be more accurate?
Otherwis great work.
JSlotosch
04-15-2006, 10:45 AM
Hey Iīm glad you still like it!
thondal, well I gave him this katana because a smaller one looks to small and a bigger one looks to big, my opinion. ;)
As you said, pap87, the bump on the forearms looks a bit strange, I will work on it.
Kurosaki Ichigo, I would change the sheat but I modeled it after a reference picture, so I not really know what I should change that it looks more than an eastern katana.
