By the way, look at the t-shirt that Peter got me for Valentines day - isn't it funny? :D Hard to make out the text on stupid webcam, it reads "Roses are #FF0000, Violets are #0000FF, All my base are belong to you." I love being a geek... (hah by the way, the Corpse Bride poster in the background was an accident ^^!)

Hey guys ^^.
Well, I let my old WIP thread get abandoned with most of the links broken, and most of the work is now worthy of being buried anyways :) so rather than raise the beast, here is my Junk Thread - Version 02; home to all my WIP’s, sketches, exercises and other stuff and nonsense :D.
--------------------------------------
I’ll start with a slight overlap, my master copies I decided to do as an exercise this January - I didn’t have much time as I was pretty busy, but I did Vargas, Hogarth and Bouguereau.
Alberto Vargas Master Copy @ 7 Hours (Complete):
http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/4063/vargas019cd.jpg
Hogarth Master Copy @ 3? Hours (Complete):
http://img491.imageshack.us/img491/6894/hogarthcopy018dd.jpg (http://img491.imageshack.us/img491/6894/hogarthcopy018dd.jpg)
http://img491.imageshack.us/img491/3008/hand8iw.jpg
William Bouguereau Master Copy - OFDW12 @ 70-80 Hours (Complete):
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6987/ofdw7mn.jpg
--------------------------------------
Some preliminary quickie concept art for my 2d/3d CollabBATTLE entry (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=313560&page=1&pp=15) with Eric Lawshe.
CollabBATTLE Concept Art 1 @ 8 Hours (Line Art):
http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/5438/girlconceptslineart1ah.jpg
--------------------------------------
And finally my latest update - I’ve started work on my website (which is rather silly as I have nowhere to host it) and thought I’d show you all a little snippet of some of the line art for the main layout I’ve been working on. The whole site design is very inspired by Korean/Chinese scrolls (we used to have tons around my house as a child as my father worked in Korea for quite a long time). I will be colouring it :) and the gnarly branch you can see will be covered in small red flowers, the long things behind that are bamboo.
Website Layout @ 8 hours (WIP):

Arty2: Thanks Emile, I am really in love with your progress on your TCSF thread, it's going to look stunning ^^.
Gord MacDonald: Thank you very much :)!
Michael: Thanks a lot  I have to try a bit harder, your WIP thread full of masterpieces is putting me to shame ^^! Good to see you here.
Therry: I don't know why, but I imagined you saying that like a pirate hehe...I'm not sure if I will be entering or not, I do have plenty of time although I'm being a terrible partner to Eric in the collabBATTLE and really should be doing some more work on that. I may give this one a miss and improve my skills so I'll be better and ready for the next one - depends if the topic is something that really strikes my fancy. How about you, O'Clippet?

Alberto Vargas Master Copy @ 2 ½ Hours:
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/2153/vargas022ik.jpg
Just messing around quickly as an exercise - Vargas's Girls are such a delight to draw ^^ should probably be finished in another 2 hours. Then I seriously will do something that I need to paint...ahem...I have over five 'pressing' projects :/

<english accent> It depends on the topic, m'dear....my work isn't as good as yours (ms. front page grabbing englishwoman!) but I like the community spirit that goes with entering one along with your friends.....you go and see everyone else's stuff and people come and lurk in your thread and everyone cheers each other along, tis great fun! I entered master and servant and while the end result was terrible (to my eyes now!), I really enjoyed it.....

Alberto Vargas Master Copy @ 4 Hours:
http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/2186/vargas028dx.jpg
Just carrying on doodling, I like doing master copies because the limited detail means I am forced to keep it painterly and loose rather than veering towards hyper-realism again (god that was an awful phase of mine ^^). Really hungry now so think I will go take a stroll to get some pakoras- *ahem* I mean a healthy, nutricious dinner, then finish this off when I get back ^^
Therry: Pfft, woman...your work captures the very essence of your characters in a way I'm still desperately trying (and failing) to achieve, and your style is wonderfully distinctive, so don't you be giving me that :p! I agree that the very best part of the challenges is the support and community spirit...I would hate to miss out on that...
Britta: Ah, I love Lillies too ^^ they're gorgeous, especially Oriental Lilies like these (with the wavy edges). I've been thinking to make them pink and white like these ones that I used to have everywhere in my old flat, there will be some pure white flowers right opposite these ones though :)
Ships crew sounds good to me :D I'll join the challenge if you two are then hehe. I agree that there is something really weird about that Vargas Girls boobs, she's drawn like that in the original too  I'm not too sure whether to change it or not...
Becca: Thank you hon :bounce:

Alberto Vargas Master Copy @ 4 ½ Hours:
http://img496.imageshack.us/img496/6417/vargas029jf.jpg
Well, finished her off quickly last night...nothing earth shattering, but for a quick doodle I think (hope) it has a sort of charm to it :). As advised I introduced her boob to gravity, still left them looking like tennis balls though, since well, that's Alberto Vargas :D I actually wish I'd done this one traditionally, I did it entirely on one layer anyway...though I'm not a big fan of tons of layers, full stop hehe.
Simon: Thank you, good to see you here ^^ I am slowly trundling along towards that day when I can say "I'm a real badass now ;)" hehe...eh I certainly hope I've improved somewhat lately though, I'm finding it best to do tons of little quick pieces like this then occasionally a big long piece like the Bouggie copy...

Martin: Thank you :) I'm glad that I've nearly got the layout of everything sorted...bah, drawing with an ink-style is such a laborious process O_o. I like the idea about some subtle flash animations, I had vaguely thought that myself...sadly, to say I was doing a degree in programming computer games...I know diddly squat about the web and flash etc...
New Piece...as of yet untitled @ 45 Minutes:
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/1402/argh0ks.jpg
Well, decided to do a quick original piece in between some master copies (theres a few Rolf Armstrong and Hajime Sorayama pieces I'm dying to have a go at), I say quick because I'm saving my efforts for a big 100-200 hours original piece for the challenge.
I'm in a nasty and depressed mood today, la la, hate myself, hate to world...what better to do with my time than make an I-want-to-die piece, heh. Going to be screaming, hair blowing in the wind (thats a jumping pose by the way). Couldn't find any particularily great reference pictures, so I had to use my "knowledge" of anatomy to try and build something up, if somethings glaringly off, let me know ^^ *yodels for Kimmel*.

This should be a cool piece. :) You know, for an angsty girl, :D your drawings and paintings are really controlled, delicate, and for the most part really pretty. Becca: Whee, Becca, that is one of the most useful comments I've ever had - I'm always straining to try and see how my paintings come across to others. Funnily enough, like you say, I'm a very angsty, fidgety girl with an explosive temper and rather 'eclectic' tastes to say the least (Yoko Ono wailing, fluorescent pink lipstick and black and white stripey tights with legwarmers, anyone? :p) but deep down I've always been battling with the fact that I hate all of that about myself - I'd really like to be a delicate, sweet, pretty little blonde girl :scream: like the entire village I grew up in! Soo, I think, regardless of who we are, our paintings reflect our true desires of what we want to be ^^. (Hehe, I hope I don't generally come off as whingey Becca, I usually smile when I'm moaning! Honest!)
Peter: Hehe *hugs* yeah except I ate all the ice cream ^^ and I can't do Simpsons without ice cream...vodka and Sex and the City it is :p! Thanks honey, glad it all seems in proportion to begin with.

Eh, did a little more playing last night but I'm really hating how this is looking - the colours look weird at the moment but I'm going to quit on the figure at the moment and start adding the background in so I have something to play off. The head is vile because I'm having to use a mirror for reference O_o and it's hard to see, I might totally wipe the head and start over. Anyhoo...
:edit - 11:22 : Beh, decided to dump the whole thing, I really don't like this piece and I think it probably shows some of my sloppiest colouring to date O_o hehe, think I'll start on a Sorayama master copy instead :)

Oops, posted without replying, silly me.
Britta: Ah I don't really hate the world ^^ just sometimes, and more my own personal world and the mistakes that I have made hehe. Have a good time at your parents! Hah and to your friend re: the boobs - personally I was thinking of making them smaller :p, I'm not aesthetically a fan of big boobs!
Peter: That had better not be sarcasm...:p
Martin: Thanks Martin ^^ I have a feeling that if I tickled a monkey it would likely bite me though...I'll settle for the tea!

Hey AIlsa, You've been doing some nice stuff! Impressive mastercopy. The one you're working on now seems to have some perspective issues you should look into, her shoulders seem a bit twisted back considering the pectoral muscle which caches shadows a little too far down for instance... just seems a bit underdefined possibly.
Maybe playing with more valueshifts towards more occluded areas of her body could work, codenothing helped me onto that track well enough. Works great.
Great work, you put in a lot of effort... admirable.

Queenay: Hehe thanks Ego. Thankfully today am in much better mood ^^ it's all sunny too and I've lost more weight *does a yay dance* think I'll actually work today too, all I did yesterday was play Crash Bandicoot and dance around my bedroom singing Alanis Morrisette very loudly  hah. I might save this one to come back to later, although I rarely have that kind of rekindled inspiration.
Gord: Thank you very much :) It's taken me ages to come up with an idea for a web layout I like, so I'm pretty happy this one seems to be going to plan!
JM: Wheeee *jumps on JM* so where the hell have you been? Before Christmas I last saw you! Thank you for the advice on that one, I can see what you mean now :) and yeah, I have been working pretty hard lately on my art, almost all day long for a few weeks! Hope to see you again soon.

Bic Bac Boc...doing a doodle of Britta, around 4 hours so far (99.9% on the face). I started it like a mechanical reproduction, blah, then tried to make it arty and painterly since I wasn't really adding anything special to it...but then it just looked like I was incapable of making it more realistic. So now, I am just going to do whatever the hell I want...

Eh, decided it had got to the irreperable stage and and just going to leave this one as is. Pretty disappointed how this turned out, even if it was just a vague doodle >_< ah well. More practise!
Janni: Hehe, thank you, you nut ^^ I never did get around to making it realistic. By mechanical reproduction I meant slavishly reproducing reality (i.e. pores on skin etc) which I have a terrible tendency to want to do and am forcing myself not to - rather than mechanical = machines hehe, love that image of Britta with half a terminator skull. "I am the succubus from hell!"

I think you did a very nice job here. But the absence of a neck and the staring eyes make it look a bit ghostlike .
For the white skin you could experiment with a brown/orange or blue under painting (also the hair part) . Showing it self mostly in the shadow parts.
It’s nice to visit your thread now and then to see your progress on various activities.

I figured I would take advantage of Britta's lovely milky skin and nice eyes to give a slightly haunted effect. Thank you for the underpainting suggestion - I've been meaning to try something like that out ^^. I also enjoy visiting your threads heh, now that TCSF is complete I eagery await your next project!
Britta: No worries hon, I'm not making any holes in your head :D! Thank you for being such a good sport and letting me draw you!
