For the last few weeks, i cannot browse my DVD-RW drive contents, as it doesn't open a window when i click on it!
Its a 2 year old Pioneer DVD-RW-108 drive.

Its functioning properly otherwise. The drivers are ok, i even tried to reinstall them but made no difference.

Funny thing is, I can still access the contents of a disk, if i share the drive and access it through the network.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

I'm just guessing here, but there are rootkits (virus-like malware) spreading around that can cause similar problems with DVD drives.

There's free software called Rootkt Revealer (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/RootkitRevealer.html) that can detect the presence of rootkit malware on Windows systems. Note: Anti-virus software is useless against rootkits.
