Hello everyone, this day is the begging of the last day of Animex 2006 at the Teesside University. Animex is a very nice event and for those who dont know, people around the industry (games, cg films and etc) from all over the world come face to face with students, other people in order to present new technologies, techniques which are used, give advice how to get a job into Cg industry and etc.
Avid is a one of the 9 sponsors. At Animex 2005 festival, Avid was a very active sponsor and to be more specific with Workshops made by Ed Harris,as an award for the "Student awards" a package of Avid Softimage XSI 4.2 and generaly all the speakers mentioned softimage.
This time at Animex 2006 Avid is still a sponsor but Avid didnt made their appearence noticable as did last year. For instance most of the speakers when have been asked to answer the packacke that they use, mentioned mostly Maya and Max. Even nowadays, Softimage XSI has been used with success for the development of popular videogame franchises (resident evil 4, half life 2 e.t.c.), I am wondering where was the Avid's representatives at this years animex.
Anyway the event this year was still a diamond in carbon because once again was excelent orgised and believe me PS3 will rock our boats :)
p.s. I hope we will be able to work mental ray for distributed rendering and real-time through PS3
