View Full Version : Dual Monitors
Porro 02-09-2006, 02:53 AM Hi all,
I'm a newbie in this area, and i have been reading alot about forumers using dual monitors. So my questions are:
1) How do you work with dual monitors?
2) Is it easy to set up?
3) Does this means the windows OS or Mac OS stretches across to screens like a big canvas?
Thanks

1) Much faster. =)
2) Very easy to setup. Simply plug into your card, and adjust in the settings tab.
3) I think most video card drivers, I know ATI and Nvidia, should allow you to either stretch or have 2 separate desktops.
if you need more, you could shell out some cash for ultramon software.

virtually all ati/nvidia card support two monitors
to set them up (once you installed the drivers correctly, and added the second monitor) all you have to do is rightclick on the desktop> properties> settings. you'll see two screens, click on the greyed out monitor with "2" in it and then click "extend my desktop onto this monitor"
and relax.
other consideration are: when you buy your card, will it be dual DVI, or one of dvi and one analogue?

Right thanks guys. Ok but how does it work? Do you use one mouse to control both screens? Or two mouses?
I mean say your monitor is put side by side, so you move the mouse from left to right, and the cursor dissappears from the right edge of the left screen and appears on the left edge on the right screen?

Yes!
It means, that say u want the graph editor on the right monitor, and a viewport in the left... Oooo! I can see everything... If only I had 80 monitors! :) So, surf the web on one, do work on the other, using my laptop is a nightmare now, one screen is so cluttered! hehe

When you put the dual monitors side by side, it's as if they were a single monitor. So there's one mouse, and the cursor moves from one screen to the other.
If your graphics card can support 2 monitors, then you can just plug them in.
