View Full Version : CS2 Mac Annoying path problem (bug perhaps?)

Occasionally when I am creating paths I get this problem where I can't delete individual points and the whole path is deleted instead.

Say I am drawing a path, and I decide that I want to select a few points to delete. I use the direct selection tool to select those points. Usually when I hit delete, those points and connecting paths disappear yet the remaining points and paths are still there. But very occasionally, the whole path is deleted including the unselected points. I also can't copy/paste portions of a path, it copies/pastes the whole thing. The delete anchor point tool still works correcly.

If I create a new doc and draw paths, the tool behaves as it should. If I then swith back to my original document the problem is still there. If I save/close my problem doc and then re-opoen, voila the tool works properly again.

I know I should probably delete my prefs but my photoshop is highly customised and I only want to do that as a last resort.

Basically, I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem. I never had this issue in CS1 and I feel it is a CS2 bug.

I get that with Illustrator CS2 (Mac). No problem so far with Photoshop though.

I'll post this over at Adobe as well and let you know if I get any joy.

OK...just worked this out. Pretty obvious really.

You need to have a layer selected for the tool to behave correctly. If no layer is selected, you can't delete individual points.

This seems totally illogical to me though. If you are working on a path it doesn't make sense that you need a layer selected as well. Sometimes I just don't get adobe......(or adobe doesn't get us!).
