In 3ds max, I need to be able to choose the object for a spot light to shine on.

For example, if I have a teapot, and a cube on a table, and i shine a spotlight from above on both of them, how do I adjust the settings so the light effects are only apparent on the teapot. And changing the parameters on the cube so that no light effects are apparent on it doesn't work because I have other lights on it.

Any solutions for this would be great, thanks.

I don't have Max but there should be a way to link the light to a single object so it doesn't affect any others. In cinema4d you do this in the light settings. Hope that helps at least a little.

It's called an include/exclude list, and it's in the light parameters. Just exclude any piece of geometry from the light that you don't want the light to affect.
