frankly, i thought that alot of the images in this months gallery weren't all that impressive... I think the lightwave gallery has better imagery.

actually i know for a fact that at least one very good image was rejected due to content:
http://www.ericknelson.com/wurp/powerbook_g4_1600.jpg
this wasnt allowed due to the fact that it was a powerbook. I guess softimage doesnt want to give anyone free advertising.
I also saw the Peugeot on xsibase, it is a VERY impressive image, but it wouldnt be posted on the gallery for the same reasons.

It's also not very photo-realistic either :D

the problem is that the most talented people don't submit it to the gallery. Other packages simply collect the best images, Softimage only posts a few from those which were submitted
to see some very impressive images made with XSI have a look at those:

I think it also has to do with the Lightwave community being much larger, as well as much more active. Not to say the Soft community isn't energetic, but that Lightwave one is EXTREMELY energetic :)
Also, you don't have as many hobbyist or independant users using Soft as you do LW (mainly because of the price difference). I'd say the larger percentage of Soft users are using it mostly for professional work. Meaning a lot of the time either because of an NDA or because the gallery doesn't accept commercial work, you're going to see less professional caliber Soft work..
kreno: if you're saying it sucks, at leats give a reason, otherwise I think ur just jealous....

Yes, the truth is that alot of good XSI stuff is under NDA. I wish I could post just a few images of some stuff we do here but I would be out on the street the next day. Look at the customer profile section for a glimpse of some of the professional work being done. I'm sure that more high-quality work will start to make its way into the gallery as more and more users start to play around with XSI. I'm seeing more and more great work popping up at xsibase everyday.

People always compare the 2 galleries (LW & XSI) but just understand that there are more wavers out there due to the price difference of the apps in addition to what KrisR said as well.
Wait till you guys see Pinocchio 3K a CG movie completely made with XSI.
