I'm new in modo software. I've learn to use 3DSMax and Maya , now I learn MOdO.

So this threads will be a simple threads , for those who need to find some good tips to learn modo tools. So let's get strated..


When I select all polygon from a mesh, how I can switch to vertex selection from that polygon selection, and Merge all that vertex, to sew all edges who aren't merged ?

Hold Alt, and notice your vertex, edge and poly selections change to convert. Click on the one you want and it will convert your selection.

So now How I can clean the Mesh by Merge all the Vertex that they were not well welded..

Ok I've no gap in my mesh , that effect of border edge.. was just a graphic bug of the cellshading higlight of my material.

Another Question !!!

Look at that Screenshot. After some test of my new modo ... I buy it (lol ^^) I've lauch my computer this day , and after lauch Modo that screen appear. I want to know How I can Reset the Configuration Please help !

After looking at Application data Directory I've notice that I've not modo directory...Where do I find the setup ini ?

Looks like modo's .cfg has became corrupt.

Delete the .cfg file located in c:\Documents and Settings\User\Applications\Luxology

The Applications folder maybe hidden, so you will have to allow Windows to show all folder types.

ok, i'll chime in here too. just bought modo as well. and am using it on and off atm (really bought it for 201)

Q) how do you turn off the little poly normal lines?

From a 3D viewport, click on the 2nd pillbox (the button that reads wireframe/texture etc.) and select "properties" to bring up the 3D View properties panel. Untick "show selected normals" from here.

How you add a script tool to a new pie Menu ?


I want to create a pie menu contained a bunch of script from www.indigosm.com (http://www.indigosm.com/) So I've created a new dedicated pie menu but I don't know what to do now ...

I've got the solution Add a new command under your new pie menu ("add pie template suform" under new control) !

You just need to cliclk on "Unkown command" and add that command if you want to launch that good script located in that directory C:\ModoScript\ModelingScript

@C:\ModoScript\ModelingScript\superWeld.pl

Easy to use , I've done an exclusive Seneca's Tools Pie Menu ^^

Where I can find the near / far Clip from the viewport camera ???

Do I can create a predefined camera as in a layout ?

Do they will use real camera function as a FOV , real camera params.. ? It will be helpfull in the nex realease.

How to Constraint the move tool to use Edge Normal, Face Normal or Vertex Normal pivot ?


This is order to move multiple edge by there Edge Normal pivot. I've try the Element move but it works just for One edge individually and not for all different edge pivot orientation.

How you can Snap/rotate an object to another Polygon of a background layer ?

I mean, I've understood the work plane function but it seems that it's looking good anly at the creation primitive time.

For exemple I've created a shape with non-oriented default workplane axis so I've now created a torus my define a new work plane by using the "Home" hotkey to define my new work plane. and now I need to duplicate this torus and snap it to another face of my base shape. So I've tried to find a .pl solution but it seems that I've missunderstood the "vertexmonkey (http://vertexmonkey.com/modeling_scripts_alignment.php)" explaination.

I mean I would like to select a flat shape ( by selecting 1 face, an edge or multiple flat vertex ) and move my mouse under the desired backgroung poly to align/rotate my foreground object to a desired poly.

It seems that the combo "RestOnGround.pl Center", "RotateToGround", RotateToObject" Work on the same layer.. so any advice to do that from One layer to another ? Because my scene begin to be dramaticaly complex; so layer was very usefull.

heys guys

i have recently downloaded the modo evaluation copy and for some reason i am finding


1-snapping is a real challenge
2- start a new project with the saved viewports removed(front view with front ref image mapped to key 1 should not show up in another project meaning the viewport config should be specific to a project)
3- how do i align the pivot point of components when i translate components

argh RTFM

btw modo is awesome
