Title: Begin The Attack...
Name: Richard Kurbis
Country: Canada
Software: Truespace
“Begin the Attack…”
I’ve been working with trueSpace as my 3D modeling software since 2002. My hobby has actually caught the eye of several online games and just recently, there were a few requests for me to put my modeling into action. This is the result of pushing both me and the software (currently trueSpace 6.6) to the limits.
I divided the scene into foreground and background and I wanted to create the illusion of depth and gaseous nebula without resorting to a time consuming multi-rendering session to get the Depth-of-field to my liking.
I used photoshop elements to overlay the fog/cloud between the foreground/background layers.
The Ship models are lower-poly for animation (my plans are to create a flash/shockwave semi-animated graphic novel with my models) as I do not have access to any render farm, nor the time to devote to massive rendering times, I have to adjust to my current equipment and software.
The poly-count is very high with all the elements put together in this one scene, resulted in some rather choppy work attempting to move objects into the right place. It was a lot of fun making the spaceport, I had an idea for the shape but no real plan on paper. I was surprised to be happy with my spaceport creation.
This is a milestone render for me, as it represents a huge push on myself to make a nice looking render.
I plan on continuing this action in a series of renders, they ‘re in the works!
I hope you like this.
