I am trying to export to 3Dmax using the .fbx extension. What is the proper way to set the exports? When the fbx files I create are opened in 3Dmax, max loses all the UV mapping and object seperations.

I am going nuts trying to figure out why. When I reimport the fbx files back to maya7, they are perfect with all object seperations and UV mapping. I am working in Maya 7 on a mac and sending them to another person using 3Dmax 5.1 on a PC.

Any ideas on what to do here? Can anyone help with this?

You may need to get an updated version of the Max fbx plugin from the alias website. I had a problem with importing maya fbx files to max and the updated plugin did the trick.

i've been having the same problem, i've got the august 2006 exporters for max and maya and some of my files are going across to max without any uv's. the uv's are in the fbx file (reimports to maya fine) but don't appear in max! doesn't happen all the time but if its not uv's then its the skinning thats messed up.
