This is going to be an interior and exterior model of a Heinkel H111 bomber (not a cutaway). So everything visible to the crew and other airplanes I will try to model.

Here are the first two shots of the bomb compartment (directly after the cockpit)
I will use plans this time;)

Here is a small update, havent got much time last days to update because of school.

Modelled some of the redio equipment, fixes some plating, added a start of the " bathtub" gun on the bottom.
Still need to fix some minor errors

Good subject, especially since you're doing the interior as well. Nice rendering too, thumbs up!

The exterior as of now, modelled the cockpit. Not that the blueprint is only there for a refference in size, not for the details, so it doesnt match

Very interesting project!

Nice work on the model so far - I've no crits. Should look great in the end with all the details! Keep it up :)

Looks great :) I like it a lot especially the amount of detail and all you are putting in it. weird you only got a few comments.

I used to have this plane in this modelling-kit remembers me some souvenirs lol.
Great work
I'll watch this thread

The bad new is, the Heinkel I am modelling is not a German one but a Spanish built under German Licence. I thought they didnt differ that much but really the only thing similar is the exterior and the cockpit.

The good news is that there are going to be two now, one Spanish built and one German built. As soon as I finish this one I am going to restyle about the whole interior, and some parts of the exterior like the engine housing and the entrance to the plane.

I have been watching this and you are making an awsome plane here! It looks really great, the only crit is on the latest renders some of the windows are not in the correct place...like they are sticking out....if that makes sense...

cobra6

If you mean the upper window in the second render? It is a bit to high, so it doesnt connect to the frame, thanks for pointing it out:)

some more mental ray drafts:
Worked on the seats, the control colomn, made a start on the central control panel, added some more MG15 mags (this thing must have more spare mag's than the whole wehrmacht =/ ) fixed the error of the window not connecting and the dial trough the window.

Here are the current cockpit renders, I am trying to find more refference on what all the dials say. I have two photos but they arent really sharp so I need to look REALLY hard for things to recognise

bit of a fish-eye camera to get everything in the picture;)

holy wow....im working on a hawker tempest at the moment. was thinking of doing the same thing (obviously much smaller scale, not that much detail in a tempest). and my poly count is ALOT lower. trying to keep it low (my computers not got the balls to take on something that heavy). could i see a wire of how u did the wings? its something that has always given me a hard time. especially when doing gunports on fighters.

gunport tutorial:
http://www.military-meshes.com/forums/articles.php?action=viewarticle&artid=7

And concerning the wings:

-Made an outline in the top view (corner=>corner, not smooth!)
-extruded with four segments height (convert to poly)
- the move the upper and lower forward vertices a little bit back
-move the upper and lower back vertices a lot forward
-move both row lower vertices a bit up
-Apply meshsmooth modifier (!modifier, not the one in the tab to the right) 2 itterations

Play around with the unsmoothed until you are happy. Finally apply meshsmooth again et voila:)

Really though, 5 stars, even if I had the skill I would still lack the perciverance to pull this thing off. My hat's off to you!

You sir, are nucking futs.

I've got a number of photos of the only flying He-111 in the world around here somwhere (inside and out). If you want some additional texture reference, let me know. I'll have to dig them out and do a bit of scanning…

I did take some close-up pics of different warning labels on the outside as well.

There is a fixed tail gun on this plane too!, centerline, upper fusselage surface, below the rudder. Got a pic of that too.

keep it up!

I have nearly 200MB of photos and 2 PDF books from the interior and exterior, gotten by helpfull museum webmasters and a big contributor on milmeshes ^_^
I have got to have the biggest collection online:D

I worked with splines. setup the rough forms with squary splines, and then just apply meshsmooth with 2 itterations. Look at it, refine it, etc. Finally convert to poly.

Good going! Can'ta wait to see it finished. Why not make an animation with it. Starting from far away, the camera would slowly drift inside the flying airplane. That would be so cool.
