This is my choice. Unfortunately I have not too much time to finish this work before the mentioned date. I will try to accomplish this model as soon as I can.
Why are you showing them to us, now?
These pics are great and full of inspiration!

Asela: All images created in Photoshop and Wacom tablet. Sorry but I don't know any book showing this render technic. Look at some sites like this http://www.goodbrush.com
I'm posting here rough scetch of vehicle for my PA character.

hey peter, the images looked to me like they were drawn by hand
amazing.
(like works of the korean guy that works for george lucas.)
can you describe in short the stages of your work with photoshop
just the order of things if you can
it would shed some light on some things for me.
thanks in advance

Great illustrations! I love the face masks.....kinda remind me of H.R. Giger's stuff. I was wondering which wacom tablet you use and what size?

Wow.... that mask is incredible...
Hmm, All I've managed to do recently is going around telling people how cool their models are. I feel useless... maybe I should go work on my own stuff. :D
Seriously though, those concepts are amazing, very different from the other people's, and that model is looking exactly like the image did.

Wow, you have done an amazing job converting your helmet from picture to mesh, looks awesome. I don't know if you are going to have enough time to finish everything. By the way, i think all your concept masks were great. Must have been hard chosing a winner.

Thanks to all of you guys for your replies. I like the challenge idea very much. Also I like to participate in this challenge too, but since I have note to much of free time probably I will not finish everything I have in my mind by the end of term of the challenge. I would not like to do this work quikly but rather pay more attention to details an quality of my model. At the same time my friend Nick is working on vehicle model.
He will show it here shortly. I think that we will completely finish this project a bit later and if everything is OK this the project we will be informing you about the progress in this site. We plan to implement character and vehicle animation too.
Below can see the main shapes of the body. I will return to the model details after it.

Incredible how much you have done in such a short period of time. Very nice likeness of the sketch too.
What program are you using? Are there quick methods that you use often that you can share with us.
I use lightwave 7 and I think it's a great modeling program. But, I have noticed that there is one thing that it can't do very easily that I think other programs must be able to do, judging by the meshes... It's a little hard to explain so let me show you in a picture that I found at http://maxrovat.sns.hu/subdiv/. (see below)
Is this something that helps when creating your models? I notice you have it in many of your detailed areas. Is that something that other programs can do easily because I might look into buying another program that makes subdivision for details faster and easier?
Sorry for many questions. What can I say... I am trying to learn and I think a good way to get some of that knowledge is to ask people who really know what they are doing.

Sirchced: I'm using Maya and Split Polygon Tool for modeling. 3DSMax for rendering.
Usually I'm starting modeling from a box. I spent about 7 hour for rough modeling character's body.
LightWave is a very nice programm for modelling.

Hi all!
Here is PA vehicle model (in progress) of Peter's concept. It is unfinished yet and I guess it will not be finished by the end of this challenge. As Peter has mentioined before we'll be posing updates to this forum after the finish of the challenge.
A short description: This model consists of only base shapes of the vehicle. These shapes will be corrected during the process of modeling and refining the vehicle model. I used subdiv technique for all details in it.

Thanks for your comments!
We know that we're a bit late with our models but since we all have other projects we're working on we can't spend too much time for this challenge. It's like a hobbie. Also, we will not be dissapoined if we finish this work not in time... we're just having fun. We rather make this work with a good quality... moreover, we'll show them later so that you'll see finished work.
I think nobody will blame us regarding it. :)
.... by the way, here is a wireframe preview of the vehicle

Here I present my personal vision of post-apocalyptic world after 15
centuries. I'm not going to use Mad Max movie stereotype because as
opposed to Mad Max vision it could be advanced hi-tech civilization.
But since it has to abide by the nuclear war consequences (poisoned
and radioactive air and water, continuous cold and winter, dimmed sun,
cataclysms of the nature and fear of the tragedy reiteration) the
post-civilization had changed its activity accordingly to that
conditions.
To become mobile in this world a man needs to have a permanent stock
of water, energy and be protected from unhealthy climate. For PA
character I suggest a suit that protects from the harmful environment
contact. The suit has self-contained system of water circulation,
filters for air cleaning, embedded energy processing and regeneration.
It all could be very compact and not impeded.
The cities in this can be built as huge underground bunkers which have
domes on the ground. At a safe time it could be transformed/opened and
the housing blocks and different city structures could rise from the
deep of the bunkers telescopically. At dangerous situations all the
structures pulls down inside the bunker and the tops/roofs gathers to
huge solid dome over the bunker (this dome has a cell structure).
Also, there could be sets of the ground domes all over the surface
connected with the underground communication lines.
Here is a first version of the PA city.
