Hi ya'll,

This is a file i've been playing about with for a IK/Fk rig for an arm its sorta working but not what i want to do is have the ik target folow the rotation of the top controller but then when you rotate/translate down with the top controller the ik target stays where it is.

Bit of a complicated rig but will be worth it in the long run if I can get it to work, if someone with rigging knowledge could take a look and possibly come up with a solution it would be great.

Cheers Pete

hmm... well, it'd be great if someone could figure this out... For SO long, I've been trying to figure out how to make a stable way of ik/fk switching in blender.... but it seems like it isn't possible.... I just wish that someone could prove me wrong... anyways, hope someone could figure it out sometime....

I'm no expert, just experimenting :) just a couple of ideas:
in the new builder you can represent bones with any object, giving you the nla power,
my new rig (http://gallery.mudpuddle.co.nz/view_album.php?set_albumName=Noodle) "better" it's a blend file not a movie, just click to download, 184kb.

This has a workable ik arm, place hand were you want then orientate elbow with target ball :) , (hmm for fk you could parent the hand controllers to a master ie the shoulder master or a second upper body master)
With this rig the only problem is with the track to the elbow target you need to think about the possition in 2 planes eg move it back or forward in side view ocassionally for to avoid bindingup, not a biggy

hope this helps :)

What i'd really love to do is find a python programmer so we could set up some sort of parametric rigging.

Along the lines of the setup machime for Maya,AM etc.
