Hey there,

Can I use tke FBIK rig (out of Maya) in Motionbuilder?

I got given a FBIK rig that someone setup in Maya. And I am supposed to animate about 40 shots with it. Now the way maya handles FBIK seems a little hoaky to me. And I would like to use MB for the amination.
Does anyone have an idea if I can use this rig in MotionBuilder, animate it there and bring the animation back onto the FBIK rig in Maya.
(the only thing I got to work was to export the bones from Maya, and characterize it again in MB, the trouble is when I bring it back into Maya. FBX changes a few orders, and since the character is referenced it wont get through the pipeline. Damn.)

Any ideas how to use the FBIK rig in MB (I am still using MB6) Please let me know if you ve done that before.

Kindest Regards

If you're going to do all of your animation in MB, why not characterize the character in MB, export only the bones animation back to Maya? This works well across most apps - i've used this approach in Max and Maya with only a few initial teething problems.

Worth bearing in mind that the FBIK rig is in it's first incarnation in Maya 7. Good as it is, the performance and ease of use is nothing compared to the rig in MB IMO.
