View Full Version : Mental Ray: Problems with glow through glass
fakey 02-02-2006, 08:54 PM Well, i've made this ipod, and i want the screen to glow. I made it glow, put on the top of the screen there is a glass material, which also stops the glow so it cant get through.
Any solutions?

I'm not sure which app you are using, in XSI the "Glow" effect is a post effect and it doesn't respect raytracing (reflections/refrafction). I'd be willing to bet that the same MR post shader is in use here.
There are many tricks to doing this in post (after rendering using a compositor)... EdHarriss.com has one for XSI usage.

well u could compositing.
But if u incist on using MR, use ba surafce shader and turn on the glow, then try to tweak settings!
