View Full Version : Strange R8 bone behaviour
Anadin 12-09-2002, 09:53 AM I posted a query about this file yesterday but it got lost. PoserPro answered me but I did not see the answer before the thread got lost.
Could you answer again please?
For anyone else, I have a simple head mesh with a moving jaw bone, but when I move the jaw the iris (a child of the eye object) moves when it shouldn't.
If the eye and the iris moved I might get it but as only the child object moves I am stumped :thumbsdow
Cant upload Zips now..

OK I think I have solved this one and though Iw would let you all know...
Hierarchy:
Null
Bone
Face
Eye
Iris
If I use Claude Bonet to paint an influence (say the bottom half of the face (with the Eye hidden), I get a half face movement on the face, no movement on the Eye but the Iris moves with the bone.
If I then hide the face but make the Eye (and the iris) visible and then use the Claude Bonet tool and paint a zero influence on the Eye and the Iris, then the Iris stops moving.
What seems to happen when I use the Claude Bonet tool, I set influence correctly on the mesh itself and its children but not the children of the children (they are getting a 50% weighting - light grey) automatically.
I am using 8.001 and don't know if this is fixed on 8.012 (if it is even a bug)
I have lost a week and half of my life to this but hey shit happens:hmm:
