View Full Version : Baking Camera Mapped Material?

Hey All,

So lets say I have 3 boxs that are static with a camera mapped texure on them. What I want to do is have the 3 box seperate while keeping the texture stuck to them. Utilizing camera mapping is important to the look. Should I bake the texture? I've tried it but it still doesn't stick. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Basically what Im trying to accomplish is something like this:

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks!

when i have needed to fix a camera mapped texture in the past i've used the command 'generate uvw co-ordinates' in the object managers texture menu. this converts from the current texture projection (camera map, frontal, flat, etc) to a uv map.

cheers, simon w.

Sweet that worked... the only prob is that "generate UV coordinates" only works on polygon objects. Im actually going to need to use it on an Jenna Iterator object which may be impossible. I wonder if there is a way to bake the object?

Hi Richard - try the file attached, see if it works for you. Basically you put the image to be shredded into a distorter with the jShader as the driver, and flat-map it onto the Jenna subject, which is a plane in this case. (I aligned it first to the Iterator then moved it onto the object). This 'pushes' the bitmap along so the correct slice of the image is locked onto each object in the Jennerator(TM), and it should stick onto each plane whatever you do to the variation etc... I think! I assume that Cinema knows nothing of the Jenna's actions and still assumes the object is remaining flat when rendering.

This is the first time I've tried this technique though, so I may be being a little hasty...

The file is here (http://www.chriscousins.plus.com/files/shredder.zip)

Hi again - I made a little movie, seems to work OK.

Chris you are a genius! This will work perfectly for what I need to do! Thanks man! I figured there was someway to do it all in Jenna. Awesome!

Thanks again.

Hey Rich - glad I could help - there's some more fun to be had with this technique I reckon, it should work with tiles as well as strips by adding a y component to the distortion, and with Allie the bitmap/movie could drive the displacements, might look pretty funky for some flying transitions ;-)
