Hi guys,

I am curious to see how many are using the Torque game engine for development.
And if you wish, and the NDA allows it, how about if we see some examples!

Looking forward to your posts

kinda OT, but http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/m/marbleblastultralivearcadexbox360/default.htm Marble Blast Ultra just came out for the Xbox 360 Arcade and is doing extremely well. its looks freakin sweet on a HDTV and the single/mulitplayer modes are so fun.

anyone who like super monkey ball and marble madness, get this now.

Been learning about Torque for a little bit, but don't have much to show for it

Seeing Marble Blast (http://www.garagegames.com/news/9638) running on Xbox 360 is pretty darn sweet though!

Isn't the torque engine what Tribes 2 was built on?

Yep.
And it is Lightwave Friendly too.

It is LightWave friendly as it has got a good exporter for it, but not friendly as a technology compared to Macromedia Director and now Poetry In Motion. But that is just my opinion and should not be taken for granted, anyone interested should give it a go.

I made a small game with 3 others, we used LightWave for models and animation, as well as FaceGen to create a set of heads for NPC characters. I'll see if I can get some screenshots out.

Can you make your own models in lightwave and import them into warcraft 3 editor?
Like say I wanted to make transformers characters and make my own game in wc3 editor with lightwave?

We will have a new nebula 2 exporter finished shortly as well. So maybe in a few weeks we could some eye candy.

PS: i'm not a big fan of the torque engine. Mainly because of the community, But that was a long time ago.

looks cool, but no normal mapping?

It has the TSE, Torque Shader Engine:

http://www.garagegames.com/products/28

-An API independent graphics layer, TorqueGFX, currently supporting DirectX 9, but designed with forthcoming OpenGL support in mind.
-Procedural generation of shaders that support normalmapping, detail maps, specular, cubemapping, glow, refraction, reflection, texture UV animation, and more.
-Powerful shader interface allowing easy integration of custom shaders and effects.
-Versatile vertex buffer and texture management, with support for static, dynamic and volatile vertex buffers.
-New lighting system.

So it has that. But I will not touch Torque with a 10 foot pole unless I have a team of C++ programmers with me :)

heh :) sounds bad. it's quite cheap though, guess it could be cool for some tests/ or just-4-fun.

I own Torque, But Doing a paid project in 3D game studio (http://www.3dgamestudio.com/) at the moment, fast, easy to code and edit and basicly get going and fine tune, the whole C++ in Torque adds a huge amount of time to program and in turn adds alot of $$$ to the project costs.

and with $75 worth of plugins from www.greenbriarstudio.com (http://www.greenbriarstudio.com/3D/) makes it Extremely easy to export stuff from LW, I'm doing some animation in messiah as well and exporting to LW using point oven then exporting from LW to 3D game studio rock solid plugins :applause: But Also animating in LW of cause :)

one day i will uses Torque,..... but major downside to torque is programing is A MAJOR EXTRA COST I want as much $$ for me and not have to give it all to the programers :argh: So at the moment Torque isn't for me,
3D game studio all the way OR Darkbasic is pretty cool too

I'm using it right now in LW 8.3 works fine,
alittle texture misplacement here on Map export are the only bugs i have to deal with
and that's very easy fixed in wed.

Model and character animation export works prefectly :buttrock:

have used it in LW 8.5, just i prefer lw 8.3
