There is a christmas calendar "Adventskalendar" in the german C4D-Treff and if you click on 8th of December you will find something nice. ;)

Big disappointment...Translucent shader crashes Cinema (demo 8.012 running in Win2000) everytime.
"Arndt von Koenigsmarck: Just we aware that there is a bug within the current C4D COFFEE implementation that could cause freezes and crashes. MAXON already knows about this and is working on a solution. So please don't use this shader with any important work until this bug is fixed.
It also seems that the stability of the shader is variing from system to system. Here on my Mac under OS 9.2 it runs perfectly without any freezes. Under OS X it is about unusable."

So no translucency for me...

in the german description to the shader, arndt writes, that once you have asigned the shader to your materials you should wait until the preview of the material has refreshed before you hit the 'edit'-button. maybe this helps you with it...

it has no problem in R7.

Yes, the material preview refresh was the problem. Just got to give it time to calculate the preview...

I think the problem is still in R7, if you push the edit button very quickly. But in R7, there are few non-modal windows, so it's safe for most cases. On the other hand, in R8 a lot of non-modal windows cause the problem easily.
So, press the button softly and slowly (killing me softly?:D)

At the same time, this is a great shader realizing translucency and sub-surface scattering. Just hope faster C++ implementation instead of COFFEE.
