This is a re-post/edit from a previous one that is now missing due to the backup problems...

I was interested in how to do subsurfacing for skin, when someone respoded to just fake it.

I am just interested in how some of you fake it and what kinds of maps do you use because so far I tend to use a basic colour map, dirt colour map(to add variety) spec and bump and just started to get into displacement maps.

I've only unwrapped and texture one head before

and this time I would really like to try to push it more and am unsure how the skin actually works and what the different layers are other then skin, viens and dirt.

Any info or comments would be appreciated, thanks,

- Jaenos

I think this question is very app specific so your gonna have to let us know what you are using.

Didn't think it would since most of the major aps support trancluency. Don't get me wrong, I am not asking how to do it technical wise(well mostly anyway) but more on a artistic level of what the maps are comprised of?

But I am using XSI 2.03 and onto 3.0 after jan 6th.
