Hi all you guys!! Im kinda a noob in the 3D area, Im more of a 2D person.. =)
but anyway I have a kind of a project to finish. and im in a problem..

so im trying to create a model nad add a texture to it while i want it to have a kind of a smooth cartoonish look with outlines and all.. . so I wanted to ask if it is connected to the textures only section or the rendering has something to do whit it..?
and if anyone knows how to do it.. . ? =\

First: this might be better situated in one of the forums dedicated to get answers to your problems and you might find a lot of info that's allready there (in that case this thread should be moved).

I think it would help if you stated in which 3D-Software you work.

As far as I know a cartoonish look is a combination of shaders which are rendered with a posteffekt. But it can also be achieved by shaders (so the answer is yes and no). As for the outlines: this is definetly a posteffect in almost every case. Maybe a look in the quickstartbook about Maxons Cinema 4D (Scetch and Toon) may give you a general idea (I got one there) but I'm shure there are similar resources concerning any other aplication with toonshadercapability.

You're looking for a toon shader/cel shader.

And yeah, stating the app you're using will definitely yield more helpful replys ;)
