Hello,
I'm going to do a 3d short to practice my general skills of everything. I have pretty much only an idea of what I want to do and a basic idea. I was wondering if any talented script writer out there would be willing to take that basic idea and develop it further. Of course if I finish the short and its good I would plan to expose it and obviously credit the script writer for his or her story. This is totally non-profit so I there would be no $$ for any party involved in the deal. I'm not really sure if people are up for this kinds of things so I'm just "shooting at the sky to see if I kill a bird" like they say in my country.
My first idea would revolve around a little kid maybe about 5 - 8 years old depending on what suits the story best. He would by accident or intentionally give live to one of his toy characters. The thing is that for some reason I leave to the writer, this "monster-toy" would appear as an old version of itself that only drinks beer eats a lot, watches TV and pays no attention to the kid. So eventually the kid would either find a way to get him back to his inanimate toy form or get revenge breathing life to another one of his toys. Actually the end should be a nice twist so it’s completely open for suggestions.
I have tried to develop it a few times taking it different directions but I didn’t quite "get there". One version would be taking it to the super hero scene, making the kids toy a superhero action figure and that would make the kid wear maybe one of those kid superhero customs... another direction was making him an extremely cute monster so that when he turns old or should I say grown up it would be a funny and cool visual twist. I would like that the child discovers this character and would still wanna play with him even if his old or so to later discover that he pays no attention to his monkey business.
My motives are that I want to experiment with a child human character, I also want to either check out a really fat character, more than just huge, made of fat parts hanging everywhere… lots of jiggle stuff, fat wrinkles and such. The location setting should try to keep it to as few locations as possible, maybe just the kids room and the house living room with the TV and a view of the kitchen door from where you could easily see the toy character taking his food and beer… up to the writer actually. Also 2 or 3 characters top. If needed I would only include the parents briefly and maybe only their arms and legs (muppets style). Oh yeah, one more thing, the camera will pretty much always be placed on the kids height… little info if you are able to use it for the script that’s cool.
The short would have to be around a minute to up to three tops. I would like to make something short and try to make it really good quality rather than something long that I might not be able to finish. I would have the art done by a friend of mine or I would step up to the plate, but it will most definitely be stylized. I’m not sure yet but it would range between two options… either very cartoony with well lit shaders and not much texture, very simple surfaces and such or the other option would be with nice textures and details very zbrushy looking, but I’m waiting to see if the story decides this for it self.
Ok then… sorry for the long post I’m waiting for your replies.
Thanx,
Andrew “thesuit”
