Is 4700 still considered low poly in today's standards? I know that the original EverQuest and TeamFortress Classic models were between 700-1000 tris. Just curious, what's considered low poly nowadays?

Also, can we see the layout for the skin?

Keep up the good work!

cool, so where can we see it in action?

One thing about the polycount, you could probably optimize it a lot. Also, if it's editable poly, collapse it to editable mesh and check the polycount again.

As for the texture, I'd like to see a render with blueish texture instead of the yellow/red tinted renderings you have...

CGmonkey
12-08-2002, 09:58 PM
awesome.. maybe a bit 2 high polycount but other than that.. awesome ;)

Why did they delete the two first posts?

NICE! The texturing looks incredible. Great job! It is high poly though. What is typical poly count for Unreal oand Quake? Isn't it like below 2000? Well it looks great as a model period.

Fredo_le_bref
12-09-2002, 10:16 PM
beautiful model !
(but) the poly's could be optimized except if you whant to paint some vertex color on him ( you should try ?) or if the lighting is very well ( dinyamics lights )
and the ratio on the map is not good , the maps of legs, arms and chest could be more detailed, more great on the map.
but the uw's mapping is amazing!!! no slice, nice deformations
great!

I am happy to see your work in such a hi-res texture. But, i have a critic on he teeth, from the shaded mode screenshot u have in previous reply, i saw the teeth of the monster seem to be so-call mid-high-poly modelling...

Have you tried to reduce the tris?? anyways, the overall work is great..

i wanna try some low poly modelling, but i need some help. Because i am too poor to upgrade my copy of the Cinema 4D 7.3 for Mac :( . And the missing feature for the Cinema 4D is the edge select tool. I really need it.

Hmm....aren't Doom3 models around 5000 polys? I could be wrong but I think I heard something like that. Anyway, great model and textures! (Though I must agree that the polycount is a bit high but if that's what you were asked for, then it's ok) :p

yes indeedy cool model nice texturing, although it might look a lot more meanacing if the there was a higher contrast in texture... but thats just my preference :)
