View Full Version : Gillman - my first model.
walknwitjesus 01-27-2006, 09:09 PM This is a model that I've started to work on. I'm just starting out with 3d modeling so I'm looking for some C&C. I want to get better at this so everyone let know what you think.
Thanks in advance.

hey
im not really into character modeling, but heres some bits of information ...
first, try to clen up tour model... a lot ive learned though experience that triangles can kill you, only in some situations triangles should be used but try to stay with quads as mush as possible
again, i dont do much characters, but i do know that loops around the eyes and mouth ...
try checking out other characters in the WIP project, its a very great source to just observe how other people complete their projects

Hey man your first model isn't to bad, you just need to work on your line flow. Have your lines come up from the chin, across the mouth and verticaly up the nose or nose area, then wrap around the eyes and back across the nose. Crossing with the vertical lines. There are lots of ticks to get good line flow, but what I suggest is checking out internet tutorials. Also your reference is your best weapon, study it, see how the lines flow on the reference, you can take it in photoshop or what ever you have, and draw lines wright on the reference picture, this will help. Yes try to have all quads, five sided are forgiving, and eleminat triangles. They can be used for some effects but dont worry about that for now.
Goodluck man.
will check up on ya.

Ok, I've listened to the comments and found cleaning up my other model more challenging than I thought. So I've decided to go back to the drawing board and just work at completing the model with a cleaner layout from the start. I know its not much to look at right now, but I've posted for some C&C if anyone has any. :D So I can correct the mistakes early rather than late. I've also posted a pic of what I'm using to work off of as a ref.
