CGTalk - Writing comments on layer timelines?

I loaded a few AE files that have comment written on layers timelines.

Does anyone know how to do this? I can't seem to find where this function is?

Any help appreciated.

Hit '*' on the Num Pad on a layer, this creates a marker. Hit ALT+'*' will open the Marker dialog.
