I have a problem with character studio 4 in max 6...

When I load an animation (a walk cycle for instance) on a character, it is offset downwards a bit. therefore the characters legs intersect with the ground level.
I tried to edit the position with everything, layer, move all mode, even also moving the pelvis manually.

When the animation is adjusted and finished and the animation is saved, if I try to load the file i just saved; the character is again offset downwards to its old position. I have tried working on another animation, or loading a different animation first then, the one of interest; the problem is still there.

I have noticed that this does not happen with all the characters, but with few of them.
Any help concerning this would be much appreciated cause my colleagues and me have hundreds of characters to do, and a problem like this could set us back.

Thank you in advance!

I had a similar problem. It turns out it was the dummy object my biped was linked to. If you link the root to a object. Then move the object in space then save out a BIP. Now unlink your biped and load the bip (your chartacter will translate) now link the root to another object..... weird results.
I would save you fig file and skin weights, and create a new biped - that way you know there is no transform or link history.

hope that helps,

jen
