Does anyone know where I might find some good digital painting tutorials? I was just given a 9x12 Wacom Intuos but I know nothing about painting. I do know Photoshop well but need help with painting techniques, using brushes, etc...

I would actually recommend Yannick Dusseault's Gnomon DVDs before Dylan Cole's. His "Intro to Digital Matte Painting" DVD is nice because it doesn't use any photographic or 3D elements and it covers the creation of nine different matte painting sketches. There are a couple of cityscapes, a jungle, a bunker, a castle on a hill, etc. Good stuff. I don't own any of Cole's DVDs--they seem to be similar, but less in-depth. I'm sure they'd be helpful, too. Ryan Church's DVDs will be especially helpful if you use Painter, which I don't.

Start out very, very simply. Use hard brushes with pressure sensitivity set to affect flow and opacity, and use lots of reference. You won't be creating masterpieces at first; just come to grips with that fact and keep pushing through. Paint even when you don't feel like it.

I own both Dusso's DVDs and Dylan Cole's series. For anyone I strongly recommend getting the Dylan Cole series. He is a master artist and takes everything on a nice easy pace, explaining his techniques in depth as he/you go along. Invaluable.

Don't get me wrong, Dusso is very talented, however I couldn't help feeling rather bored after a while...and he doesn't really go into exlpaining his techniques. Plus, watching Dusso do his thing at 300% is very frustrating.
