View Full Version : Bodypaint question
ThirdEye 12-01-2002, 04:52 PM I've modeled my 1st head and I gave the head a material using SLA. Now I wanna add another material to work with bodypaint. How can i overlay my new material to the old one without mixing them?
(I thought: i make my material with SLA, then i add another material choosing a BP3D transparent texture... it doesn't work) :hmm:

you can either paint another layer painting an alpha on it as well (dont use mix with other textures) and work that way, or you could use fusions to put your original SLA colour in one slot of the fusion, nd your bodypaint texture in the next slot... though you will probably have to work with the bodypaint texture in a material of it's own applied to your object forst otherwise you may not see the texture while you're workgin on it (then just remove that texture once you're ready to render)

I'm choosing the 1st way, it seems easier. Can you explain me how to do that? Thank you for patience, I can find anything similar in the manual

well i blieve you can paint two channels at once... so you need to paint th alpha channel (from bacl to white) and your texture in the colour channel. so it's just a case of making a new material, applying it to your object (bear in mind that you can only see one texture at a time using c4d) and painting that.... if you cant paint two textures at once in bodypaint then simply paint your surface texture (colour) first, but make sure to go beyond the areas that you want the paint to be, then once that's done paint in the alpha... now because you can't see alpha directly it may be best to paint this in and have it in the luminance channel, or transparency channel while you're painting so that you can see what's going on and compare with the colour channel. then once you're ready to render just make sure that that particular image is in the alpha, and out of the luminance or transparency channel, and away you go (hopefully).
