Hey, I'm rather new to character studio and have a few questions. First thing is I'm having a problem with the vertex sub-object mode in physique. I'm trying to fix some of the linking of my model to the biped, but for some stupid reason the vertecies just don't show up on the model. It's probably something very small such as a display setting or something that I've missed, but it's driving me nuts and I can't fix the linking without it. Another question is how do I get the biped to link up with the geometry better the firt time around after initializing physique. Any tips or tricks on how to model geometry or rules of thumb on placing the biped would be of great help :)

Just to give you an idea of what I'm doing, here's a couple shots of my model and a link to my workfile.

I had no problem getting the verts in your file to show. 'Course, that was after I unfroze the mesh.

I noticed that Biped was in Figure Mode. From what I hear, you generally don't want to go into Figure Mode once you've used Physique.

I also noticed that you didn't have links and envelopes and things. Just for kicks, I reapplied Physique and turned those things on. Still no problems with showing verts.

Maybe delete the Physique modifier and re-apply it with some more stuff turned on and out of Figure Mode. I really don't know.

I tried doing what you said with no luck :(
btw, I was using max version 4 with no problem. It's only since I switched to max 5 that this problem occured......oop....hmmmmm.

Okay, thats really bizzar. I just found what the problem is. Its a driver issue, has something to do with the directx 8.1 drivers. I just tried switching to software and the verts display fine.

just so we can get some comparisons going on, I'm running win 2000 pro with a geforce2 mx card and using max 5.

more wierdness?????

I got max 5 working with opengl drivers now, and they display the verts, but if I have the window maximized, max reverts to using the cpu instead of my card? , but if I just have the window sized to fullscreen, it works fine. Wierd :/
:surprised
