The moderators have choosen to censor the questions from Ernia, Tank and the others in the "NURBS modeling" thread by closing it. As they did not even worry about giving any explanation for this act i can only guess it was the fact they did not like the questions, as any discussion has been made impossible before it could even start. If there was any violation of the terms of use of this highly professional forum, which made censorship the only possible solution i would be very interested to get any infomation about this here.
Most of you around here have invested a lot of money and time in C4D, so it is pretty normal and understandable you are heavily biased against any kind of nonpositive information. And the ones who have been fooled are typically not proud about the fact itself.
I have invested much more time and much more money into Non Uniform Rational B-Splines, commonly abbreviated and referred to as NURBS, and other high potential companies did the same as me. NURBS has very high credibility and a perception of power in public as it is THE industry standard for freeform surfaces. Therefor many customers make it an important part of their buying-decision about a CG related software.
The maxon attorney Barbara H. Herr has stated in a letter on 20th of july in 2005 "Maxon has in no way and to no time reclaimed to offer NURBS".
Nobody could explain to me until now why maxon uses the term NURBS extensively anyhow.
I cant see any reason, except to make belief to potential customers that there are NURBS in Cinema4D. This concept is historically referred to as "the emperors new cloth". Everybody who dares to ask "Where are his clothes?" is rudely attacked: "Hang him high, he has made an insult against the emperor!"
For honest people there is a very simple and even for a little child understandable way to avoid any misunderstanding about things like that: they simply do not use the term. The others are in trouble now.
