View Full Version : flip this, flip that? confused.

hey!!

i'm exporting a model from max to zbrush 2.
i seem to have got that part of the process sorted. but when i try create a normal map it's upside down, as though somewhere along the lines the uv's have got flipped or rotated.
is this something to do with the "flip" options in the preferences?
i've tried playing with them but can't get anything to work properly.
any ideas which ones i have to select to get the normal map the right way round once i export it?

Hi you have to flip the normal map in V direction. You can do this in ZBrush before you export the map unter Texture->Flip V. Or you can flip the map in 3dsmax, i dont know where the setting is there.

i saw that but thought it would screw up the normals. i guess not

Have you tried the Zmapper plug-in??

It is free and has presets for all 3D programs that mean you dont have to mess around with flipping stuff
